## Your Financial Success Depends Heavily On How You Handle Your Money

The single most critical distinction between financial success and financial failure lies in how you handle money.

Mastering financial management is what enables you to attain financial independence — and with that independence comes the opportunity to use your time as you wish, rather than being compelled to work just to make ends meet.

Most people aspire to achieve [financial freedom](https://www.harveker.com/blog/biggest-financial-misconception) — that point where we no longer stress about covering bills or making rent, when all our fundamental needs are met.

However, financial freedom can only be realized when there is sufficient money set aside for whatever we desire, whether it involves paying off debts, enjoying leisure activities, or taking an extended vacation. Ultimately, that’s what we all strive for.

## 1. If You Can Govern A Small Amount Of Money, You Can Govern A Large Amount

Regardless of where I find myself in the world, whenever the subject of money comes up, I invariably receive the same question: “Harv, I don’t possess much money, in fact, I don’t have any spare cash, so how do I manage it?”

To respond to that question, I provide a straightforward analogy:

Imagine you have a specific amount of money and you visit the grocery store weekly. Let’s say you spend $200 to purchase your groceries for the week. Upon returning home at noon, you decide it’s time for lunch. Are you going to consume all the food at once? Certainly not — you bought it to last the entire week! Instead, you’ll manage it so that it *sustains* you throughout the week. Right?

The same concept applies to your finances:

If you are not accustomed to managing your finances, when you start receiving MORE money, guess what will occur? You’re still going to neglect money management. Consequently, it will all vanish, leaving you puzzled about why you struggle financially — not to mention achieving wealth!

So even if your income is just $1, you need to learn how to manage that dollar. If you can accomplish that, you will reinforce the habit of money management.

At my *Millionaire Mind Intensive* course and in a portion of my book, “[Secrets of the Millionaire Mind](https://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Millionaire-Mind-Mastering-Wealth/dp/0060763280),” I introduce an incredibly effective money management technique— specifically crafted to lead you to financial freedom.

It’s called the [**JARS money management system**](https://www.harveker.com/blog/6-step-money-managing-system/).

Essentially, this system involves dividing your money into **six separate accounts**, allocating percentages of your income to each account. You can utilize bank accounts or physical jars to separate any income you receive into the jars (or accounts) [following these percentages as a reference.](https://www.harveker.com/blog/6-step-money-managing-system/)

Money management is the foundational element of financial success, regardless of whether you’re just starting
